Artistic and Professional Performances and Exhibits

Before evoking my shows, I barely watched a television nor listen to some broadcast from a radio at the moment. Plus, a pile of lazy papers falls asleep every night with me on my desk as soon as my brain used to have no idea. When I turned my fan on, they flutter and, in my mind, I saw one of them fly across the room and come into my hands. However, “ People wonder what if I were..?” I would like to show my artwork ‘ Comfort Women’ how hardship and traumatic they are struggling with. My Korean fashion (traditional costume with yellow butterflies) represents sexuality, intensive, commodified, and hurtful period to be not unforgettable memories until now. When I looked up and watched Korean comfort women and the Korean movie, is called “ I Can Speak (2017)”, I am interested in and ran through the majority of Thesis show. I'd like to choose I found so many things that stood out that performing.

As soon as I looked at pictures and documentary of Korean comfort women from the 1940s, during that time, “Recruitment" women were kidnapped and forced into a brothel. They were rounded up in the streets of the Japanese occupied territory, were purchased from the parent as an employee or they told that they have to move out of the country, because they thought it was a business to get a job. Although the Japanese government and president Abe argue that they did not do anything during the WW2 (1930s), Korean comfort women, who were sex slaves between 13 and 19 years old, still suffered deep trauma and unforgettable memories. Even though there are only survive twenty-five people in Korean comfort women today, they never give up to speak out about those times how hurtful and hardship time they had to deal with (Do not keep hiding in mind, like from caterpillar to beautiful butterfly).

My artwork (performance) is relating between a costume, Hanbok with yellow butterflies, and 5 songs of music. I decided to fabricate and wear the costume with yellow butterflies that imagine, back to the 1930s. In fact, at that time, Korea was less power and economies was not enough. Typically it is a contemporary of dance, nonetheless, my dance movements have meaningful times and soul that I could read the comfort women with uncovering in the mind. At least you may not know that time, imagine, how could you do thoughtful? Can you imagine when you have gotten bullied? If you have experienced, then explain how hardship time you were having.

Even if people still might not know that event and comfort women are still traumatized until now, don't Japanese people owe an apology to comfort women?

Unfortunately, if you missed and never show my own representations for this year of your life in, and that will probably give some sort of shape to your future, the answer means you will not levitate neatly into your hand. And you do not know legibly feelings or emotions. Of course the absurdity of racial prejudice, and the perception of violence. If art is preserving histories of traumas, is it possible to see the change in the politics and society through the art? And is it possible to save the world? As long as you keep hiding in order to maintain being  self-conscious, your chance will be absence.
