Art

About

I make art for the simple fact that its expressive. Art for me is always a way to regurgitate what I process out of the world. I don’t think I’ve ever belonged to one spectrum of art-making, I believe there are different ways to get out what Im feeling by using all kinds of techniques. I enjoy every aspect of art from set and production design, to screenwriting, painting and fashion.

Throughout my teenage years, I’ve traveled through two different worlds(city and suburb). A lot like my art, things are always shifting and moving. With that being said my art relates alot to nostalgias of my time and memories. Going to schools where the majority of the people are not like me it’s something that’s present in my practice, The idea of me being aware of blackness has really made me a story teller in everyday life as well as my art.

My art has always stemmed from ‘good times’, nostalgia, sarcasm and storytelling from memories. My art matches my personality and often I just want to recreate those aspects. I strive to make  art that is fun but at the same time show art that holds weight and underlying feelings. I don’t want to make sad art but I also want the viewer to be able to bounce between a multitude of feelings.Because sad things do come from nostalgia, and I happen to be a very reminiscent person, I do believe there is something important about acknowledging the past and being aware of it. My current work now deals with the bridge between childhood, adolescents and adulthood.  It also builds on the topics of overall morality stemming from spirituality.
